| Well today marks one year since doing the impossible...getting my Twin Turbo. So many of you doubted me and for that, you are all bastards =) Unfortunately, it's been QUITE a crappy week for me and my Z. All of this within about a week or so... First, I'm on a freeway all alone with no traffic and something slams the windshield I had just replaced 4 months ago. I guess I can live with it. I mean hey, this is the hazard of daily driving a Z.
Two days later I'm working at a client (Norton Simon Museum) and I come out to find this. Damnit. The irony is that this is THE best parking lot I've ever parked in. Wide spaces, cameras everywhere, security guards I know, etc. A chip is one thing...but FOUR? The offending car? A red Supra with white wheels and plates we couldn't read on the tape. Asshole.
So I scour the car that night checking on things and find it relatively clean. This isn't important except for the fact that the very next day I happen to wash it and find this. It was NOT there the prior day. The pic doesn't show it well but it is the size of a half dollar. Damnit X 2
Just a few night ago I'm taking a friend home late at night. There's a turn up ahead without a stop sign or light of any sort. Of course, I take it a little faster than normal because I know the turn and I know I can. Just my luck there's a Sheriff in the middle of the road pulling over two drunk guys in a Mustang. He waves me over and tells me to shut the car off. Great. So I get written up for unsafe speed and crossing the double yellow. Did I cross the line? Hell no I didn't. Did they measure my speed? Not even possible. Was I speeding? Nope...I was going less than the speed limit and the turn did not have one posted. Were they even looking at me as I made the turn? Nope...I saw them first and he looked up. Did I mention they let the drunk guys go so they could write me up? Told them to "get home quick and take it slow". Thanks officers! I'm VERY Pro-police as I have many friends in the profession and I realize a few bad ones spoil the bunch. Lately, however, it's been harder and harder to deal with. For once, I lost to a Ford. Mustang 1, 300ZX 0. Thankfully I'll be fighting this one in court and I shouldn't have a problem. I've beaten both that I've challenged and I'm going for three in a row. So clearly I'm not having the greatest week in the Z, ya know? Well today I'm heading home from work, happy its Friday and I've got a half tank of race gas. I'm doing 55 in light traffic on the freeway when WHAM...pothole. Hell, it wasn't even a pothole, it was a HORRIBLE attempt at fixing a crack in the freeway with tar. Unfortunately, the tar had sunk and left a nice 2" mini-curb sticking out of the right side of the lane. Thanks a ton city of Pasadena, you will be getting the bill for this one. Right front
Right Rear

So after ALL of this shit I've been dealt in the last few days/weeks...I should be pretty pissed off. Despite my online persona of being a nice guy and all smiley and crap, I have quite a temper when things piss me off. Even so, I'm in a great mood. Why? Because I own a Twin Turbo Z. I hadn't even planned some lame anniversary post or anything...in fact, I just was going to rant a tad and post some pics but today I realized it had been exactly one year since I joined the dark side. I know a lot of you NA guys enjoy your cars (I loved my 2+2) but having those turbos is like nothing else. When you're bored, they wake you up. When you're sad, they are there to cheer you up. I swear to god, if they could cook and perform in bed I'd probably slap a ring on one =) Okay, that's too far even for me. See how delirious I am? I love it. As such, I'm taking my Z with cracked glass, a dented door, chipped paint and bent rim out for a nice 18psi cruise (don't worry, the rim is holding the bead fine). I may be a total whack-job for not having a daily driver, but I bought this car to have fun and that's what I'm doing. It just so happens I want to have fun every day. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? Call me crazy if you will, but while you're reading this I'll be stuck to the back of my seat with a shit-eating grin on my face. Twin Turbos...there is no substitute.
